Johan Appelqvist is a professional scheduler and the CEO of award winning Nordic consulting company Byggnadsekonomi Oy. With more than 15 years of experience in BIM for production management, he is one of the pioneers in virtual construction and 5D solutions. At Byggnadsekonomi he has created unique and groundbreaking processes for BIM management.

Jaakko Riekki is BIM Specialist at Byggnadsekonomi. For the last 5 years he has been working onsite, implementing BIM based scheduling and Lean managing methods on major commercial projects in Helsinki region.

Do you use cost classification database and production rate databases directly in Solibri in some way or you export quantities extracted in Solibri to some 3rd party software?

Johan Appelqvist: Export to scheduling and estimating applications.

Can you show one precast element and the detailing used?

Jaakko Riekki: In this case study, the detail of the precast element was not of relevance.

How did you copy the 4D classifications in the other floors above?

Jaakko Riekki: We can use the information content of the elements in order to build the sequence of one storey and use the same sequence for all of the similar storeys. Another way is to manually classify all of the elements that are similar and on top of each other on different storeys into a sequence, and then create an ITO where you first group by storey and then by the manually created sequence. This way you get a table of elements in many storeys in the required sequence.

How do you managing licences for users during workday? You said that you have just 6 licence?

Johan Appelqvist: We work in several different applications depending on task and profession, such as scheduling, cost estimating, BIM management, etc.

For changes in scheduling how easy is it done in Solibri? Client assumed AI is out there to allow for auto rescheduling as and when there is need...

Johan Appelqvist & Jaakko Riekki: Changing the schedule requires some manual work, however not redoing.
Regarding the AI question: You have to define the processes before you can automate them :)

Is it possible to cut Walls with the Zones?

Solibri: When creating Zones in Solibri with classifications you can classify the wall to be part of different zones by ticking the option "Allow multiple classification names". If the wall needs to be cut between the zones this should be done in the design tool.
