Solibri Model Checker v9 Release Notes

Solibri Solution Center and New Cloud-Based Licensing

With SMCv9 Solibri introduces Solibri Solution Center (SSC) and a new licensing system. In SSC the Solibri users can download Solibri Model Checker, and other Solibri software. Also, SSC has additional software and SMC extensions and rulesets by Solibri and third parties. The SMC extensions can be installed, uninstalled, and updated directly from within SMC. The new cloud-based licensing system allows easy administration of license pools, and since it is cloud-based, no server needs to be installed and maintained at the customer premises. Cloud-based licensing also allows the use of SMC outside of the company, as long as, you have an internet connection. The license can also be borrowed, if internet connection is not available.

Checking Process Improvements

Dynamic Rulesets

Rulesets in SMCv9 can adjust to the model that is being checked. Rules and Rulesets can be nested under other Rules. Depending on the outcome of the parent Rule, the child Rules and Rulesets are checked. If the children of a parent Rule are not checked, the whole branch is also hidden in the user interface, so that only relevant content is displayed.

Adding Missing Information

Dynamic Rulesets provide a mechanism to run content specific checking. However, some checking depends on information that may not yet have a standardized place in IFC. SMCv9 lets the Ruleset author to ask tasks to the Ruleset that prompt the user to input such information. For example, some Rules apply only to hospitals, while others are valid to Residential buildings. When a Ruleset that needs this information is opened, the user is given a task to provide it.

Issues Tab in Info View

A new tab has been added to the Info view that shows all Issues that the component is involved in. From this view you can directly activate the Issue in the Results view and the Rule in the Checking view.

Showing Components in Issues from 3D

A new (Show Components in Issues) item in the popup menu in 3D view has been added. This shows all the components that are related to all the issues the picked component is involved in.

Configurable Issue Default Comments

You can now control from the settings the content that is set as the comment when the Set Default button is pressed in the Issue Details dialog. For example, you can include Rule Name and Issue Description to the default comment. When, for example, Rule Name contains a reference to a building code chapter, the person that is seeing the report can immediately relate to what portion of the building code has been violated.

Ruleset Hyperlinks Propagated to Issues and Presentation

When a hyperlink is added to a Rule in Ruleset Manager, it is automatically added to all issues generated by the Rule. The hyperlinks follow also to presentation issues and they can be included also to Excel reports.

Configurable Component Information in Coordination Report

SMCv9 gives you a possibility to control which components are associated with the issue and the information that will be reported about these components in Coordination Report. This enables the project team to get meaningful coordination reports that also contain information by which the components in the issue can be identified in the authoring tool.

Updates to Rules and Rulesets

Manual Checking Rule (#232)

Sometimes a complete checking of a project requires some tasks that are not related to the BIM content. For example, some textual documents need to be provided. The Ruleset author can in this case add a Manual Checking Rule (#232) to the Ruleset. This Rule always creates the issues that the author specifies and in the issue description instructions can be provided about the actions to be taken. The person who is doing the checking can accept the issue after the necessary actions are taken.

Updates to Comparison between Property Values Rule (#231)

A new option "Follow Relation Chain" is added to the Compared Components, when the Related Component option is used. When this option is turned on, the relation can be followed recursively. This is usable, for example when you are calculating the weight of a total assembly when the assembly has sub-assemblies. Another Factor parameter has been added to the numeric target values. With this factor, you can multiply the target value to allow some tolerance. The default value for the factor is 1.

Rule Dependencies Replaced by Dynamic Rulesets

The Rulesets that were using Rule Dependencies are converted to use the new Dynamic Rulesets feature.
