Solibri 24.12.0 Release Notes

Update to version 24.12.0 for the latest improvements featuring Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360 issue integration, custom shortcuts, enhanced Distance Rule, and a comprehensive list of bug fixes.

In this release, we’ve focused on two major features:

  • Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360 issue integration - The missing half of our most widely used integration
  • Custom keyboard shortcuts - The most voted, still pending feature request on our Society feature request list

What’s more, there have also been some further updates to the Distance rule (#222). And probably needless to mention that we’ve made a bunch of bug fixes as well, like always.

As per our last two releases, we’ve changed the version numbering to display the current year and month.

Access the latest Solibri version 24.12.0 here by selecting Solibri Office and opting for the newest version. Please note that a Solibri Admin needs to assign the newest version in SSC. If you are an ECom user, download the latest version here.

#1. Autodesk issue integration pre-release

To complement our already existing document integration with Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360, we’ve now implemented also the integration for exchanging issues with them.

The integration can be accessed by connecting to the ACC/BIM 360 integration in the Integrations view under the File tab, and by going to BCF Live Connector tab to select an ACC/BIM 360 server and a project.

The ACC/BIM 360 issue integration has been implemented in the BCF Live Connector view, but as Autodesk issues aren’t based on the BCF standard, there are some things that need to be taken into account when using the integration.

Firstly, some default Autodesk issue fields map directly to BCF topics, but some require special handling to get them supported. In an ACC/BIM 360 project there are three fields that require special attention: priority, label, and stage. These are supported as custom fields in this integration and need to be configured in a certain way.

As can be seen in the picture above,

  • The custom field Priority needs to be of type Dropdown and can have as values whichever priority levels are needed in the project.
  • The custom field Labels needs to be of type Text that contains under the Description the needed labels as a comma-separated list.
  • The custom field Stage needs to be of type Dropdown and can have as values whichever stage options are needed in the project.

These custom fields need to be added in the project to each issue type that requires these fields. After these custom fields have been configured in the project and added to the needed issue types, they will be supported in the issue details view as well as in the filters on Solibri side.

Secondly, in ACC projects you’ll need to create the following folders (”Project Files” → “Solibri Issue Files”) via the Files tab to be able to include images (viewpoints) to the issues.

Note that when you connect to the integration, a popup may appear asking you to create mappings for some fields between their local values and the values supported on the server. When using the integration, you can add and update issues normally, manually, or, for example, by importing checking results.

Note also that there are some limitations concerning this integration:

  • In ACC/BIM 360 projects issue comments can be added, but not modified
  • At the moment filtering with the “<Undefined>” will fetch all the issues, not only the ones for which the field is not present
  • From Issue Viewpoint only the snapshots (pictures) are supported - camera position, component visibilities, component selections, sections, and markups are not supported
  • Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) requires a special project folder for issue files like described above
  • Removing a viewpoint from a synchronized issue doesn’t work yet

#2. Custom keyboard shortcuts

It is now possible to customize your keyboard shortcuts for actions in all Solibri desktop products, making it easier to tailor them to your preferred keyboard and improving ease of use and memorability. The new Shortcuts view can be found under Settings in Solibri.

To customize a shortcut, simply click on it and use your keyboard to assign a new one, which will be instantly applied. Single keys or key combinations can be assigned to most actions, or the field can be left empty if preferred. If needed, individual shortcuts or all shortcuts can be restored to their default settings.

Save your shortcuts as a .shortcuts file to share with your team.

Note: Universal shortcuts, such as Ctrl+C for copying, and mouse controls cannot be customized but are shown in the Shortcuts view for reference.

#3. Enhanced Distance Rule (#222)

We are excited to introduce the second wave of improvements to Distance Rule #222! In September 2024, we improved grouping Distance Checking Types, range distance measuring, updated illustrations, and enabling container measurements. Now, we’ve added even more features to enhance clarity and functionality.

This update brings new Checking Type illustrations to better clarify what is being checked, along with updated terminology for improved understanding. We’ve also introduced new checking types, such as “Horizontal: Alongside”, and added an offset option for the “Horizontal: Between Footprints” type.

Additionally, we’ve implemented a container filter, allowing you to specify the container (boundary box) within which components are checked. This ensures that only components contained within the selected container are evaluated, enabling more precise checks.

To further improve clarity, we’ve rearranged parameters vertically for a more intuitive layout.

Importantly, we ensure backward compatibility, meaning all Rule #222 configurations created in previous Solibri versions can be seamlessly opened and used with the enhanced rule version.
